Center 1: One Act Play & Choral Reading
Auditorium
Dimensions: The proscenium arch is 42 feet wide. From the front of the stage apron to the back traveler curtain is about 40 feet deep. The mid-stage black traveler curtain is approximately 10 feet behind the grand drape. Curtain pulls are in the wings on the stage left side. Pictures of the auditorium are below (all the junk pictured on the stage will be moved out of the way.) The auditorium seats 500 people.
The black floor of the stage is painted wood and the front stage apron is shellacked wood floor (can sometimes be a little slippery).
Load In: Props and set pieces for all performers will be loaded into the building through the main front double doors. They will be stored in the gym for the day. One-Act Play performers must bring their props and set pieces to the hallway on the left side of the auditorium at least one group prior to their performance. They will then be loaded into the auditorium via the backstage double doors on the stage right side during the allotted 10-minute set up time. Actors, props, and set pieces will all enter and exit through the stage right backstage door. Props and set pieces should not be in the hallway for long periods of time so it doesn't become too crowded for others. We will have at least one student in the backstage area to help with load in.
Calling the Show: Both the lighting and sound boards are in the same booth at the back of the house. We will have at least one trained student in the booth at all times to help with lights and sound. You may have your light/sound person(s) in the booth calling the lights and sound with our assistance. Our student(s) will run the light board and sound board based on your person(s) cues in the booth. OR your light/sound person(s) may call the show from the backstage wired headset.
Lighting: Is a mixture of fresnel lights and LED lights. No spotlight will be provided, but you are able to bring your own (bring an extension cord) and set up in the house right aisle or in the back row by the booth. The light board is an ETC 2496 light board and we will have some basic lighting options saved into memories. We will have full stage, stage left, center, and stage right saved as pre-set memories for lighting cues. It may not be as clear cut with stage left, center, and stage right lights due to some ambient light spill over. Disclaimer: our lighting is a work in progress and there may be some dark spots on the stage, but actors should already know to find their light :)
Sound: The sound system is a Behringer X32 digital sound board with a center ceiling mounted speaker. Because of the speaker placement, actors on stage and the first 2 rows don't hear the sound from the speaker very well. Which means you may need to place a student in the middle of the audience to help with your sound check rather than on stage. But the acoustics of the space are awesome! Sound effects can only be played from the booth via your laptop or phone. We use a 3.5 mm headphone jack cord that plugs into your device. If your device no longer has a headphone jack, then please bring an adapter as we do not have one.
Intercom System: We have wired intercom headsets your tech. crew can wear backstage and in the booth to help call the show. The outlet is at the stage left wall next to the proscenium arch backstage. You may use them if you wish to call the show.
